I know the crying is driving you crazy but you can't IMHO spoil a 4 month old baby. They cry because they can't talk and maybe the baby is starting to teeth or is missing mommy. Babies need to be held to feel secure. How about wearing him in a sling to comfort him and keep your hands free. He is probably feeling your stress and that can't be helping matters. Tell his parents about it. Let them know how you feel. I would want to know.
It's kind of an awkward thing--his dad is my cousin. So, it's never as easy to work for a relative--as I should have learned in past years from doing it!
Oh well! He's been a very fussy baby most of the 3 months I've been keeping him- maybe he'll do better soon! I don't think my sister in law will ever come back if this baby is at my house! LOL She was about to go crazy and she was only here for 1 hr. of it!!!!!
edited b/c I forgot to ask: what is IMHO? Edited to add: not trying to be critical, but this hit a nerve only because a lot of the girls behavior (very similar to this child's) for the first couple of years were attributed to us "spoiling them".
Sorry if I upset you saying it like that. I would never want to offend you. He is held ALOT at home, so that's all I meant by it. Sounds just like the girls at that age. Imagine two like that and no parents to come get 'em
Ditto here!!!!! The boys were 10 weeks premature and I often blamed that, thinking they didn't want to be out yet.
I wish I were able to just fly away from my house today. I'm having a terrible time with one of my kids from daycare. He is only 4 mo. old and his parents have got him so darn rotten. He has literally cried and screamed ALL DAY. He's been here since 8:00 a.m. He has only slept about 30 min. all day and the rest of it, well, not good. I'm about to lose my mind--- wish I could get him to stop. I know he's just being spoiled rotten b/c I pick him up and he stops. The minute I lay him down, he screams as loud as possible. All of my other kids are sleeping so nicely. My ears are so blared and my mind is so tired. I just need several minutes to myself, but that's not happening! I usually get a nice break during nap time. Oh well! Wish someone was here with me!!!! NO MORE BABIES FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the long rant! I just need to get it all out. Thanks for listening. Sounds just like the girls at that age. Imagine two like that and no parents to come get 'em
Anyway, take a deep breath and know you can only do so much. Put her down and let her scream if you need to - no one can carry around a baby all day, especially when caring for other kids. Edited to add: not trying to be critical, but this hit a nerve only because a lot of the girls behavior (very similar to this child's) for the first couple of years were attributed to us "spoiling them". Ok, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! What is that I hear.......... oh yeah, it's called quietness!!!
I made it through!!!! I feel like my litte girl when she does something good and claps for herself! LOL Well, his parents... I wouldn't get anywhere with that probably! They would never know what a day like this is like, because if he cries more than a few min. they are picking him up and holding him so he won't cry. I mean, we're talking like packing him in that little "kangaroo pouch thing" and sleeping everytime with him on their chest even at night. So poor thing, that's all he's used to. They way over feed him too!!! For them, he's eating 6 oz. about every 2 hrs. The dr. told them to stop doing that, and the dad said "I'd rather do that than let him cry". I should have known it would be this way. They tried to have a baby for like 5-6 yrs. and finally got pregnant when they had decided to "give up the idea". Funny how that always happens!!!! Oh well!!! Gotta take the good and the bad. Hope you all are having a more peaceful day than me!!! IMHO=In My Humble Opinion. If this baby is that fussy he need to be checked out. My son was fussy like that. Come to find out he had acid reflux so being up right helped him feel better. Also he wanted to eat alot, sometimes eating can temporary relieve the pain. I also think it was part of his sensory intergration disorder. He craved senory input so carrying him and rubbing his back to comfort him is what he was crying for. He's crying not because he is spoiled at 4 months old but because he is trying to tell you something. That his only way to communicate. My son is still nonverbal at 6 and will cry when he cannot get his point across in other ways.
