I have scheduled an evaluation for my little guy (Brodey). I haven't seen any thing that I can say is a deffinant red flag, but I have had it mentioned that he should be evaluated. Takoda's school thought it might be helpful because I could have reconized Jared and Takodas delays and behaviors sooner.
He just turned 20 mo. I do dout my abilty to pick up on problems. I think he is completely NT but I think a second opion couldn't hurt.
Brodey has a vocabulary of around 20 to 30 words. Atempts sentences but they come out jibberish. He is very affectionate good eye contact. Aready announces he's going to have a bowel movement. Right now because he's jealous of the computer he's handing my shoes to me and saying, "Mama need shoes."
This may sound rediculous because this is my fourth pretwo y/o. I am writing a list for evaluation of concerns and acomplishments (the first visit is for paperwork writeup). Anything I should rember to mention? Nelle Look at fine motor and gross motor skills also. And eating and/or sensory issues. Their sleep schedule. Is he what you consider a lazy baby ? When was he weaned off the bottle. Is he a lazy chewer? Can he follow simple commands? How is he at the computer? Do you have to show him how to do a game or does he just pick up on it? Any safety issues besides the normal? Is he impulsive? That is all I can think of right now. Tammy Tammy, Thankyou alot of things I have forgot to look at. Brodey is still on the bottle it was a sub for the breast since he was only weaned at 18 mo. He only needs it to go to sleep during the day he prefers a cup. I am working to get him off it. LAZY?
He used to have a great appitite now he's picking up bad habits but he does see Takoda refuse to eat most of his food. I now make Takoda stay at the table til Brodey is done because if the boys are done Brodey thinks he is to. He has become a lazy chewer I have seen alot of unchewed food passed through his diapers. He also eats things that are not food I've seen beads and one penny, I have to watch him constantly. He is cutting 2 y/o molars so his gums maybe sensitive. He has picked up bullying and hitting and scratching. He sees Jared beat on Denny like he is his personal punching bag. And Takoda hits and scratches during meltdowns so I think Brodey is picking up on this and thinks it's acceptable. The computer is just something he is jealous of no intrest in learning on it yet. Does follow simple instructions like bring Mommy shoes and such. Plays games like peek-a-boo and is very interested in playing with car's (he says cah's) someone told me he has a Boston Accent.
Doesn't seem overly impulsive or hyper just busy. He does sleep well goes to bed puts himself to sleep (sometimes with his bottle). He also takes a nap he turns into a bear without one. He likes routines but doesn't meltdown without it. You don't want to see him without his nap.
Thankyou again Tammy you gave me quite alot of ideas for my list. Nelle PS What fine and gross motor skills should they have by almost two? http://www.brighttots.com/Age_appropriate_development.html There is a list there of the typical milestones. And you are very welcome Nelle. Sometimes your brain just doesn't function with the stuff that you are trying to recall. I would consider lazy as being a child that likes to be carried more than to walk or crawl. Gabe was that way. Gabe is also a lazy chewer, still is. Tammy
