Seems quieter | Autism PDD

Share

His main form of communication is PECS. If he wants something he knows, like food items, high desired items - he gives a one word request - most times. His verbal stimms were never words - his labels have decreased with the verbal stimms. He seems like the same kid overall - just a lot less coming out of his mouth. It's so drastic that even my neighbors/friends are seeing it! The thing that concerns he is all his other stimms have got far worse and the overall labeling on his own decrease. I know he can still say the words it just seems we're back to having to pry them out of him KWIM? I just hope we're not going backward with language. He didn't speak his first word till after 3 and still his language is labels and not functional.

Thanks!

If i was you i would get him assessed again

ring up his pead and tell her you are worried

the sooner this can be looked the better

he does sound regressional but regression usually involves more than one skill loss

keep an eye on it an dplease ring your peadatrician or speech therapist just to be sure all is well

keep us informed my friend i will be worried

We have def. noticed our son has been so much more quiet! Just these past few weeks. The verbal stimming has gone down some, but his visual stimms got worse. Go figure! His labels are there, but he just doesn't seem to label things as much. Even when he wants something that he doesn't have words for - he walks over to where it is then he just sticks his arm strait out palm open (like saying stop) and just stands there TOTALLY silent! What is going on? Has this happened to anyone's child? Is this some form of regression?

Just to clarify -- your son is talking less both in terms of verbal stims and labelling.  Has labelling been his main form of communication?  Were his stims words or noises?

Anytime there's a marked change in behavior, I suspect physical illness.  Any potential sources of pain or discomfort?

Any significant changes in his life?

Hi

without worrying you

there is something amiss

He is a conflict and he needs to sort it out

has anything been added to his labels or something taken away have they changed color or siz it is not bad at the moment just kepp him involved and dont let him go

nake an appointment to see your gp tell her what has happened

make a list of the skills he his losing or not doing anymore

any words he said but stopped

.

just try to interact more and speak to him even if its just  mummy is hoovering now

should we tidy up and so on

he may seem a million miles away but he can listen good.
