Anyone try enzymes for ASD? | Autism PDD

We did the gfcf diet w/ both of my kids and they are still pretty much on it - dd is on it 95% of the time and ds is on it 50% of the time.  When they do consume wheat and dairy foods, we give them the Houston Nutraceuticals AFP Chewable and the Zyme Prime.  My kids are very very sensitive to casien (have immedicate regression and gastrointestinal problems) and since we used the enzymes, we have not seen any regression.

We give the enzymes before every meal simply because digestive enzymes aide in other things, such as breaking down foods in general, combating yeast, etc.

www.enzymestuff.com is a fantastic website and a lot of the info comes from Karen's book.

We did enzymes along with GFCF diet..it was 4 years ago When our dd was 3 years old...Could of been Houston nutraceuticals or Kirkmans??

I would break open a capsule in a small medication cup with a squirt of syrup/ mix well and draw it up in oral syringe and give it that way to her with no problems.  The chewables would of been better if they had them at the time:) Some give them instead of GFCF diet and still gets positive results..we did both.  I need to get some more because she is now off the diet but her bowels and food choices are terrible

We use a mixture of chewables and capsules (mixed with other things) as a companion to the diet. We hope to relax our diet when Riley turns 6 or 7 as I am not convinced he is that intolerant (more so to dairy than gluten) and just use enzymes but our doctor wants us to be strict until then because his brain wiring is still going so strong. So, because we all seem so much healthier on this diet anyway (except the wallet) , we continue to use both diet and enzymes.

we use them in addtion to the diet (she is nowhere near ready to be off the diet) and they are one of the supplements that help her most!My son takes Zyme Prime, as I haven't gotten the diet completely up and running yet.  Not sure if any of it is working yet...I actually started Jadon on Zyme Prime since my 1st posting. It has helped firm up  his stools and increased his appetite. Pretty soon I will be adding Peptizyde.
