Hi everyone, Id like to start giving my 3 yo ds (pdd-nos dx) magnesium and B6 supplements as I have head that this is good for children with this dx. My son is a very picky eater (not much nutritional value), and I currently give him flavored fish oil and a multi vitamin.
Has anyone used Super Nu-Thera (Magnesium/B6) from Kirkman labs? if so, can you share your success with this product, if applicable? Is it OK for me to give this to my son without a nutritionists counsel? Lastly, which type should I give (with or without vitamin A and D).

I haved two boys with ASD...the 10 yr old took Super NuThera from 4 to 6 yrs old and my 4 yr old has been on it for the last 2 yrs...it helps alot and I use the Raspberry flavor with A and D...he also takes Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil (it has pretty low levels of A and D)...another good supp is DMG and Folinic Acid...I give my 4 yr old (2) 800 mcg of Folinic per DMG tablet...I started with one DMG and worked our way up to 5...I was told from Kirkman than they can takes as much as 8 if necessary...my 4 yr old uses it mainly for language, he is practicly non-verbal and when he can't take his DMG, he is completely silent...My 7 1/2 yo with High Funtioning Autism has been taking Super Nu Thera ( 1 t tropical flavor in OJ) for the last 6 months. it calms him and it helps decrease his self stim of spinning. He hates the taste now and it is hard to get him to take it. It is not enough to keep his impulsivity down in the classroom and he is still highly distractable. We will be moving towards trial of low dose stimulants. 25 sessions of neurofeedback and not real change with that.
We use the liquid one. You can use it without counsel. One tsp a day mixed in juice. Tastes great!
I would use the one with A and D.
I just wanted to let everyone know that my dr said to avoid propylene glycol...so we have been converting all of our products to organic chemical free...I looked at my Super NuThera bottle (liquid version) and it has this chemical (it's a softner I think)...I noticed that all of the liquid forms have it...When I took my 4 yr old off it, I noticed that he was better able to modulate himself (knows what will make him feel good)...it seems like the vitamin was bringing him to far down in activity level...my 4 yr old is very calm and not hyperactive!!!
