Update on Cub Scouts!!!!

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic
This weekend went well with our fundraiser. He stayed on task for his shift. For me it was great to see him do so well. As his mom and like most moms I worry so much. I like to get him involved in some things but i am always afraid  The adults in charge wont know how to handle him. the youth minister at my church finds great joy in working with Allen. he tells me his is doing great. I am lucky to have a very supportive community. I think our experience with cub scouts will be a good one. the tiger cubs had no den leader so I am taking on the challenge. we had a leader meeting I was impressed with how great these people are, They had a article they found in a scouting magazine About Autism and Scouting. It was amazing how many people were interested on how to help these kids, getting them involved etc. I will larn from them and hoopefully I can teach them. I am so excited about all of this I wanted something to do since I am a stay at home mom now I have my activities with Cub Scouts. This is wonderful news.  I know many kids on the spectrum who do beautifully in scouts.Good job Allen  (and mom.)!!!How great for you both!!!!

My niece has some behavioural issues and scouts has made a real difference to her maturity and self esteem.
Scouts seems to help foster that essential feeling of achievement that kids feed off so positively.  That sound great!

That is great!  WYG Allen!  And  to you for getting involved.

I often wondered about the scouts for ds someday.  This is encouraging and hopefully next year ds can be a scout too.
