Wanted to share my amazement,
As many have probably read Sharlet is virtually non verbal. With use of
PECS she has recently said her first few words...YAY
Today I took her to town briefly. We went into a shop and hubby was
looking after her while I tried on a bra (not a luxury, urgent as ill fitting
bra had caused mastitis )
As ususl she began screeeechinh!! at the top of her almighty lungs.
I came out of the change room in a hurry as usual and the lady behind the
counter was offering her a balloon.
It crossed my mind that coming up would be the uncomfortable
conversation where I would have to explain why she ignores/screams at
this lady
Anyway this is the AMAZING thing, Sharlet took the big pink ballon and
said in a quiet voice Thankyou....SHE SAID THANKYOU!!!!!!
The lady said thats ok and didn't even realise that she wasn't NT
This is the first time she has ever said thankyou and the first time ever I
haven't had to explain her behaviour to a shop assistant!!!
I'm in shock and I don't even think it has sunk in yet.
I'm so proud

I literally am in TEARS!  This is SO great.  Hugs to both of you.

WOW, How great is that. Way to go Sharlet. OMG, wow, we are sure full of blessings this week!! Makes all the other difficult moments seem insignificant huh? She's such a cutie too!! WTG Sharlet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay Sharlet!  HOOOOOOOOORAY!

Sharlet  - way to go !!!!

Moments  like this are priceless !

That......is precious

Way to go sharlet

Mom thats great there will be more words to come!!!!

wait and see its coming

Great job Mom and Sharlet!!  I am wondering if the screechin' was due cuz the lady was offering her a different "color" and Sharlet wanted the PINK one.  IF that is the case, not only is it so for cool to hear "words", but also she KNOWS she has choices!!!   You should be really PROUD of her!!  wtg!!!  She is on a roll...start giving her more choices...ask if she is thirsty...help her say yes...take out the juice and water...once she makes her choice, get the other one outta sight, and give her what she chose. :)  Screeech_200138974.3357523148I totally agree with you screeech. Also we have started working on things
like more and eat and i have gotten her to say fruit when shee wants kiwi or
strawberries! I haven't started choices yet but i think you are right and she
is ready for a few Way to Go Sharlet! OHHHH ! sooo wonderful!!
and not only did she say a word- but what she chose?? to say thank you is a HUGE deal! on a social level and just being aware ...
soo great ! that's beautiful
What a WONDERFUL feeling that had to be for you!!! That is so exciting! Congratulations!  (We need a happy tears icon)  That is so wonderful.

WAY TO GO!!!!

thats wonderful Sharlet!! Woohooo that is GREAT!!!!!!!  I hope that MANY more words are too come! :crossingfingers: Today she said apple! and yesterday I was putting on her stockings which is
always a bit of a struggle.. when we were done she said YAY! GOOD ONE!

Which is what I say to her all the time. She hasn't said thankyo again but
hopefully she will.
Oh yea that is sooo great!Way to go Sharlet!!!!!!!!
