Adult onset Autism spectrum disorder

I'm 51 and have lived a life in hell on earth.  I was born with minor autism and can clearly see now where at 2 points in my life, everything took severe downturns.  The first was when I had a severe eye infection that was not responding to normal treatment, so they hit me hard with heavy antibiotics.  The second came about 2 years ago, which brought this whole matter to light concerning just exactly what the heck my problem is, in 2002, I took 'Immune 26', come to find out, I'm allergic to egg white.  Took it twice and stopped due to extreme cold symptoms.  I was headed downward fast, physically and mentally.  Began experiencing severe reactions, some debilitating.  I was off the scale mentally.  Can't even describe the horrors.  Ended up homeless for 3 weeks.
For some reason, a previous employer took me back on.
The Fall of 2004, I finally narrowed it to autism.  This is after having an MRI, going to doctors, one allergist got me way off track on something else.  He suggested it was maybe MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities).
While researching 'food allergies' on the net, I ran across Dr. Shaw and Great Plains Laboratories in Lenexa, KS.  I purchased his book 'Biological Treatment of Autism and PDD'.  From there, it's been all uphill.
Now the worst part.
I feel I'm perfectly normal, although use of me comes with many restrictions, LOL!
I feel like I've just woke up to life in the middle of a garbage dump that I've created.
And from here, it's all about repairiing the damage.
Cleaning up the environmental hazard around me.
One thing about us 'autism' people, we are extremely insightful and intuitive about life and spirituality.  Which comes in pretty dang helpful.
Enough,   may God bless all of you dealing with this.

Steve_P38403.6000578704..Hey Steve
I have a 5 year old little boy who is a high functioning autistic. Your insight is almost overwhelming and yet....somehow in the back of my mind I knew the answer would be in food allergies and yes spirituality. At times it is as if Jacks' is looking right through me and  is annoyed at my simplicity. Thanks for the info on Dr. Shaw, i will look into that. One thing is for sure..I will NOT give up until I can break through.
Steve, congrats to you on the uphill journey now that a diagnosis has been made. I've read the book you mentioned and also another called Enzymes for Autism by Karen Defelice and I agree with most of the allergy stuff...I also recommend you look into enzymes because they can really help with digestion and intolerances of foods that cause autistic like symptoms. God Bless you!The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know!

An intelligent man knows that he is ignorant.
an ignorant man thinks he's intelligent.
