...this summer?? Today is my son's last regular day and then he goes till the end of June for ESY. My oldest has his last day tomorrow and he is off all summer. Just curious how many days we all have to take sedatives?? Our son is out of school since last week of May. Now he is busy with cub scout activities. Daycamp and webelo's camp, monthly pack meetings. Scouts helps the motor skills. I love it and he does to.HiS Mom is his leader. Scouts is fun also. He played soccer this spring also. Did better than before. Vision therapy has been a god send in this child's life also. Before he had no visual tracking/eyeteaming. He will start to school Aug. 10. Vitamins also have helped as well. A balanced diet daily also helps as well. We brushed his tongue cause before he only liked startches for Vegs. really. Hope this story helps you all. Look at food grade supplements they are great. Too many. every summer he regresses a little then it takes a couple of months to get him back up to speed.Brent, Where did you do vision therapy and what exactly was involved? I think my son has problems with visual tracking and he mostly can't figure out what or where I'm pointing to. I would be interested in at least getting an assessment done for him... Anthony currently goes to a private pre-school and his last day is today. He's off for a week and then goes back two days a week for their summer camp. Frankie's last day was Tuesday and he starts summer camp on June 26th - 3 days a week for 6 weeks. He LOVES it. Anthony has never gone to summer camp so we're hoping he likes it. He starts his program with the Chicago Public schools this fall but we wanted to keep him around his peers until then, even though his current preschool doesn't have anything special for ASD kids they're compassionate enough. My girl goes until June 29th or so, and comes back around Labour Day.
ALL SUMMER!!!! Work gave me the summer off since she couldn't guarentee my hours which I needed in order to book a support worker. She said that my job is safe, she wants me full time in Sept, but enjoy our time in the summer. So we are going across the country and visiting everyone possible so I won't have to do it alone. I mean hubby is around, but works all day. With K and I going away, there is always someone around to help :0) That being said, I also have two weddings out there I want to go to and my parents ;) Best of both worlds!! Pan Andy is home all summer, but we're hoping to have someone work with him 3 hours a day/5 days a week. He also has speech therapy in the home twice a week. If we plan much more than that, we'll have a rebellion on our hands because he knows he's supposed to be on summer vacation. He's never qualified for ESY so that's always been a non-issue for us. Kim Joe is home all summer too. He's excited, for now, to do the packets the teachers made up for him. Sounds like everyone has a plan, for me I usually just "wing it" and look around for different activities. The day camp here is run by teens and all they do is sit in the park all day, so that option is out..lol I did find some really nice activities at the Library that they offer each week. I'm hoping to get the kids involved in that. The rest of the summer we just do fesitvals, swimming, movies, etc. Anything I can find. It's the days in between that is hard , that's why I'm considering getting a speech therapist for the remaining 8 wks. I also have to find a respite worker, I'd love to get my bus driver and aide for the job since they love my son to death..lol Middle child is not yet in school, so he's in between, lol. He's here all of the time. My daughter got out last week and goes back to school in late August. Caden starts ECSE on Monday (Mon-Thurs) for five weeks and then goes an extended couple of weeks, though I have no idea when that will be for sure. VT WAS DONE THRU HIS EYE DR. HE ALSO WARES PRISMS ALSO. HE HAS BEEN WITH THIS DR. SINCE AGE 5. THIS IS FORCING EYE MUSCLES TO WORK THAT DON'T HAPPEN NATURALLY. WE SEE CHARLES SHIDLOFSKY PLANO tx. our son will have a week off before he starts social camp and then hopefully he will only have 2 weeks off before school in the fall... He's out until the last week of June. Goes to school during the month of July. Is out for most of August and then goes back at the end of August.Don will be out of school at the end of this month, and doesn't go backuntil September!
However, we've got some things planned - he's got two weeks of daycamp this summer, we may go camping one week, and I'm planning on having someone work with him (ABA) 2 hours a day, 5 days a week starting in July. I'm hopeful that instead of regressing, he'll improve over the summer with the introduction of the ABA program... My foster son (17, FAS, NAD, ADHD) is out next week, and not due back until September. However, he has a day program two days a week all summer long pretty much, which is nice. |
