NVLDHi Kellie, Sorry to hear about your daughter's troubles. I'm not sure as to where to point you because I don't know much about NVLD but I do know that it is quite similiar to Aspergers. I'm in MA too and would try to get intouch with the Ferderation of children with special needs. their website is www.fcsn.org, it's a wonderful group that deals with children with all types of disablities and they have a great parent to parent program aswell as parental support and is a wonderful resource for educational issues. I also wouldn't hesitiate calling around to the different Autism resource centers, although not quite on the spectrum ( I think) it's so close to it that they may beable to point you in the right direction. With this Dx, you should beable to put an appropriate plantogether, speech therapy, focusing in on social skills and pragmatics, Ot for any sensory issues she may have and access to an LD teacher because technically , she is learning disabled. I would also talk to your spec ed dept, most ciies and town have a sped pac- a wonderful resource to keep you up to date on school issues and gets you intouch with other parents. 13 is a tough age and Ithink all of our hearts break right along with yours. Hopes this helps alittle.. Hi. I live in WMASS. I have 2 boys on the spectrum. My 12 yr old is pdd-nos/ld.Hi there! What is NVLD? I hope you get the support you need from your daughters school.
