My son’s Birthday party- great!

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic
Alex did great yesterday. He turned 4 and we held a small party at a play place. the last party he went to was a disaster- to over stimulating, to much sensory. he wigged out.

Yesterday my boy did not have autism.... he was just like the otehr kids. he greeted his classmates, hugged them, looked at them,  and ran around pretend playing with them. He acted like any other 4 yr old. (a first). I am ususally slapped in the face when we do things like this about how my son is not normal.

I got home and cried tears of joy. I was so happy. I guess I can see a light at the end of the tunnel- or just see that all the hard work I do for alex with his IEP and therapies are soooo worth it.

now we just need to work on the daily living skills i.e potty training, dressing, etc.
I 'm so happy it went well for you all. Those special moments when our special little people surprize us are so neat. Way to go Alex and Happy Birhtday !

I don't know if it is because I'm hormonal, but your post made me cry.

That is so wonderful. I am happy you and your son had a great day. It gives me hope. I guess I am feeling down because I am reminded whenever we go to playgroup how different Liam is. It is disheartening.

Thanks so much for sharing!

P.S. The Laura Ingalls books are my all time favorites.

What wonderful news!!  I love hearing stories like this.  I think it really cheers us all up to read such great things of our children.

That's so great! Congratulations to little Alex! That's wonderful!

Please tell me year 3-4 is better than year 2-3!
That is awesome...I can't tell you how many Bday parties Ryan has been to and we end up leaving early. [QUOTE=srs-mom]That's wonderful!
