Perhaps you should call an IEP and add an addendum...implement some type of behavior plan. Any time AJ slaps himself in the face or slaps or pulls my hair, I rub his hand on my face and say "nice" It works for us! :) Does her teachers and/or therapists know anything about autism? Perhaps you could print something out that will help them to understand your daughter better. :) I am sure there will be others here that will share their wisdom with you. Keep coming back to check. These people here and wonderful! They have all sorts of knowledge AND the best support a person could ask for! :) Hi, I'm very new to this message board and look forword to getting to know many of you. I have a question that I was hoping someone can answer. My daughter is 4 1/2 with PDD-NOS, and very high functioning. She is in an inclusion class and teachers/therapists are having a difficult time understanding and controlling her behaviors. These behaviors include; constant babbling, hitting the teachers (not out of anger but with a smile while greeting them) biting herself and punching her chin. Now I know that most of these are sensory related. I'm afraid to place her in a self contained classroom because her cognitive level is above average. Any opinions would be appreciated. |
