I have had to fight the schools over this one repetedly. My JD had to have it for Kindergarten enrollment. They acted as though I was an unfit mother for having refused it. The Dr. I have now says the schools can't do that if you read and sign a consant to refuse form. Has anyone tried this with any sucsess? I don't want to be bullied by the school system again. Nelle My kids never had the heapatitis B shot. Here they don't give it to everybody. And the school never said anything about it to me. And if there was a way to keep Gabe at home, trust me, the school would had said something by now. Tabitha Hi all, thought I would give a quick comment on the shots......my sister's son had a severe reaction to the shots given at 18months......he ran a high fever went into a coma ......he had to learn how to walk, talk and do all the things he did before all over again......he was a very normal smart ,bright little boy who ended up mildly retarded.......my sister did not get the rest of his shots......duh.....while the state of PA was okay with this .....she moved to Va when he was 12 and they did not want to allow him to go to school here because he had not had all of his shots......she obtained his medical records and everything......it was a horrible fight........they did eventually let him in but then it was a fight to meet his special education needs.......needless to say she ended up home schooling him and he is now 20 yrs old and finally just got his drivers liscense.......He does live on his own with his girlfriend but everyday is scary for him.......and for us as his family......BJ didn't get the education he was entitled too.....and without this I fear his future is very uncertain....... |
