| In home care provider
I had asked the same question of my sons case manager at department of developmental disabilities and they said no that a parent cannot be a care provider for their own child. Someone either related to you or otherwise has to be 18 or older. Is it possible for a person to apply to become an in home care provider for their own child? I'm looking into this because with Brendon's schedule it's impossible for me to find a job. I've looked for part time work for when he is in school, but most employers don't understand that I need days off to take him to doctors and therapists. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated.
If you are talking about applying as an supportive home care provider under medicaid, you cannot. They believe that it's the responsibility of parents to take care of minors. If your son has a brother or sister who's older (I think they have to be 18), they can apply for that position. That's all I know because my dd gets medicaid. Someone else may know more. |
