service dogs

I really want a service dog too, to help with anxiety in public places, but my mom says it's too expensive plus I wouldn't be able to take care of one.

Anyway, private trainers usually charge in the neighborhood of a few thousand bucks.  Could you fundraise that much?  That's what I hope to do one day.

I was wondering if anyone could give me info on service dogs in the northeast. I saw the site for autism service dogs of america. However, I cannot afford $13,500.00. I am an LNA who resides in subsudized housing. My son has PDD-NOS. He opens the doors and runs out. We are not allowed to put locks or chains on the doors.  He's a great kid and I just want him to be safe. Any info would be helpful. Thank you. I am not sure about how to get a therapy dog. I got a dog on my own and have been training him to work with the kids, not anything professional but he is a smartie and has caught on quick . He is very protective of the boys.  I am not sure about the rules and regulations where you live but it seems like if they allow pets surely they can allow you to make your home a safe enviorment for your son. I think I would contact a  local advocate or attorney to find out what you can and cant do to keep your child safe. I would go ahead and put a chain or latch on the door, what if he were to get up in the middle of the night and you dont hear him leave?  And as for the dog, check on your local craigslist to see if anyone does volunteer training or withthe ASA chapter where you live to give you some ideas.
