I need help and info!!

I have BCBS of TX insurance and I was wondering if anyone can let me know any information on finding a doctor for my son! We are pretty sure that he is autistic and his Dr. does not seem like he knows alot about autisum! He wants us to wait until he is 3 or 4 and he will do something then! I don't want to wait I want to do something now! I could use some help or info! I found Dr. Bradstreet and he is not covered under my insurance and neither is Dr. Rossignol! If I have to pay for someone out of network I will but I am trying to do all that I can before that happens! Please help me if you can!!!!!

Also I live in Central Florida area around cocoa beach but willing to drive to Orlando, or further.

Not all state BCBS plans are the same, and nobody knows what your plan covers. You need to call the phone number on your insurance card and ask about autism coverage.

Then you need to make an appointment with a Developmental Pediatrician or a Pediatric Neurologist who specializes in autism, or a child Psychiatrist, or a child Psychologist, or Neuropsychologist who specializes in autism. Ask other parents for referalls.

You also should call the Texas Early Intervention services coordinator.

We live in North Florida and saw Dr Michael Baker in Ocala for diagnosis. Very recommended!

Our DAN doctor is Nancy Worthington in Gainesville. OUTSTANDING--and takes our ins. We have BCBS Florida.
