Title 1 school only choice? No idea about the legality, but I'd take a look just in case.  Sometimes those ratings don't reflect what's really going on at the school.  I'd be very careful considering the reports of bullying, but I'd at least get all the info possible before deciding whether or not to rule it out. I have twin boys. Both were in the autism program until this year. Andrew was removed from the autism program and goes between kinder and 1st grade and the resource room. At his last IEP it was suggested that we put him in the Learning disability program. there are 2 schools in this district that offer it, neither is the school he is currently attending. When the school pyschologist called to arrange for me to go see the program she said I could only see the one 5 miles from our address, I could not see the one 13 miles because it was too far so they only sent the kids to what I will call School H, 5 miles away. Problem, this is a title 1 school, meaning kids zoned for that school have the option of attending another school. They have been out of compliance for 4 years. It is in the neighborhood we are trying to move out of. Great schools gives it a 3 rating. Parents complain of bullying. I told the psychologist I would look at the school, but I was concerned because well, it was this school. I do have a neighbor who has a little boy with aspergers who loves this school. But isn't this illegal? Giving us the only choice of a title 1 school?
