| Columbus, OH School Options
Hi! I am really hoping to get some help here. I need suggestions, feedback, anything you can tell me about your experiences in the Columbus, OH area. My daughter is 4 1/2 years old, and after 1 1/2 years in the Columbus Public School district we have to find a better option! I just don't feel that they understand my daughter and her needs at all. Anything you can tell me about your experiences with public or private schooling in this area will be helpful. I have recently completed the application (for waiting list) at the Oakstone Academy in Westerville, but who knows how long it will take to hear back on that? I want my daughter to be somewhere where they understand her sensory issues and will push her (but not make her feel inferior) to be the best and brightest that she can be. Basically, I am looking for a school or district that has reputation for believing that our kids can ACHIEVE and does not push them to the side or just pass them from grade to grade. My daughter is very bright, and with the right educators I know that she can reach her full potential. I have just found it very, very difficult to find information online for my area and it is so frustrating. I want to make the right decision since we have to go through the stress of changing districts / settings since this is not something I want to put her through over and over again trying to find the right one. Most important to me is a school that reaches out to and understands children with autism, dedicates time and resources to their education, partners with parents to help us help our kids, and a strong network of parents who are in the same boat and all want their kids to excel. Thanks in advance for your input and advice! |
