wild pollack in fishsticksSo we're officially GF for 2 weeks and it has been really rough..but we are finally starting to see improvements! Hooray! I'm cautiously optimistic b/c DS's behavior has always been so inconsistent-great one day, not so great the next..but hopefully we continue to see more of the good days..anyway, he has finally started eating some substitutes, including DR. Pragers GF fishsticks instead of those awful Gorton's ones..but I read the label and it says 'wild' pollack is used in them. I'm wondering if this could be a bad thing since these fish might be feeding on icky things..this is one of the few things he actually eats and I've been giving them to him every few days..but I'm concerned now that this just might be adding more toxins to his fragile system..any thoughts? Thank you again. We don't eat fish. I'm allergic as is my mom, so we avoid it anyway. But, with ocean fishies, there's always this issue of mercury consumption and iodine overload (and God knows what else). So we just leave it alone. believe it or not, wild is usually far more toxin free than farmed. Farming methods for fish are just gross. Wild also has better nutrition value. Fish in general should be limited, for adults it's 12 ouces per week. We usually just eat fish once a week to be safe.thank you..i'm thinking we should cut back on it for all of the mentioned reasons. not worth the risk! |
