anyone from atlanta, ga?Hello Laura! I'm afraid I don't know much about services because my son was diagnosed so late, but I am from the Atlanta area so wanted to at least post and say welcome. This link might help: http://www.psychiatry.emory.edu/PROGRAMS/autism/. I'm sure there are one or two people here who know the services available and could help you in greater detail. Good luck with your decision! (Btw, I have a friend who grew up in Indiana, now lives in Atlanta and is studying to be a counselor.) Hi, we currently live in Indiana and are considering eventually moving back to Atlanta, where we lived for a long time before my aut. son was born. Here in Indiana we are able to get Medicaid for our son b/c there is an income "waiver" for Medicaid, meaning that they don't look at family income when determining Med. eligibility, just the diagnosis. We are therefore able to have our son in many private therapies, all covered by his Medicaid, as well as having a case manager, respite worker, etc. I am wondering if there would be anything like that if we were in GA. Our private health insurance would not pay for any of Sam's therapies so the Medicaid is a God-send. Whether or not GA has services for aut. children really would be a huge factor in any decision we would make about relocating. Thanks to anyone who can help!Laura |
