Rights regarding choice of school

Hello,

My son is in the 1st grade and attended the same school for Kindergarten.  It is not his "home" school, he was placed there for the Life Skills program at the time and this year is in Applied Skills and Inclusion classes.  Basically they are starting to tell us that he will need to go to his home school next year or a school that is "paired" up with his home school.  Long story short, we love the school (teachers and students) where he has been.  The teachers and his peers already know him and know how to work with him and his needs.  It is the only school he knows and remembers and it kills me to think he will have to go to a new environment with all new teachers and students who don't know him at all!  Although he has his ups and downs, he is very happy there and actually is talking more to us about the "friends" and teachers by name.  My question is, is there any "Rights" we have to keep him at this school???  Have any of you fought this fight before??  We are already gathering doctor/psychiatrist letters and filling out the forms for the General Transfer process for our district, but was wondering if there is anything else I can do!!  I am ready to do anything I can!!!!  Thanks for any help or advice.
