Have a look at the youtube video on the site and you will see what I mean, Best wishes, AdeleI was an ABA therapist ten years ago before I qualified to teach and saw it work wonders with two children of very different levels. Behaviors improved significantly and having a team approach was a great support to the parents. Also having a written record of progress and constant evaluations was motivational. When we saw that hitting was replacing kicking we could see we were making progress when as a parent alone sometimes things like this are missed. The non verbal child learnt to typewrite, read and gain some independent self help skills the other child ended up going to a Montessori school at 6. Having seen ABA I would say it can work wonders, but it is a lot to take on both in financial and emotional terms. My best advise is follow your own instinct and get the advice of parents and teachers you trust.
