| Shameless brag
For the last couple of years, I have been training Rosie, my Australian Shepherd, to be a service dog for ds. Mostly, I have been working with the two of them separately on how to behave in public. Yesterday, I had to run a batch of errands and decided to take the two of the along. We went to the bank, Target, and the car wash. Usually, at the store, I let ds ride in the cart, it is just easier than having him bolt. This time, I had him walk next to me. He held onto the leash with one hand and the cart with the other. He and rosie walked together through the store. The one time he tried to bolt, she did not let him. When he flopped on the floor, she waited him out. She kept him from freaking out in the crowds. They both behaved beautifully. He did not melt down, and she was just a constant, reassuring presence. Then, we decided to go to the car wash. I have not taken him here in 5 years as it scared him so badly as a toddler. So, we dropped the car off and went inside to watch the cars get washed. It was really loud, but he just hung onto the least and to my hand and did not melt down! I was in shock. After we that, we stopped by Wendy's, his favorite place, for a celebratory burger, for both him and the dog! I was on cloud nine. I have not run errands with ds by myself in years, it is just too hard and he is too unpredictable. But, yesterday, we did it! No big deal to most people, but to us it was huge. I love my son and my dog!

Wow, that is amazing! You're such a dedicated parent to train the dog on your own.
That is AWESOME and so exciting! I'd love to know how you took your dog to the public places.. is he wearing a vest? Does your area require licensing of animals that assist in that manner?
You have earned the right to brag! Yes only parents on this board will know what an accomplishment that is.
Concernedpa. Way to go Ravi and Rosie!!!!
Hope for more erand running in the future. Rosie wears a service dog vest. Right now she has an animal in training license. After she passes her exam, she will have a permanent one.
