Starting GFCF today!

We are GFCF (but permit oats... see the note on Oats on that site... we use products from companies that don't cross contaminate).

We permit soy (in other words, we're not doing GFCFSF).  We've tried taking it away and it made no difference at all in our kids (every kid is different); so we permit it.

Hello,
We are starting the CF portion of the GFCF diet today. Basically we are
following the recommendations from here:

http://gfcf-diet.talkaboutcuringautism.org/gfcf-in-10-weeks. htm

Any advice?

Also does anyone use Soy? Avoid soy - at least soy protein (milk, flour).  And good luck!  The first few weeks are rough, but once you start to see results, it's completely worth it.

We've been casein free for several years but after recent allergy testing have just started the GFCFSF diet.  Ds tested allergic to cow's milk (but not casein ), cheese, yogurt, gluten, wheat, soy, spelt, asparagus and oysters (which he has never eaten, ever).

I ordered a shopping guide for the gfcfsf diet from here:

https://www.ceceliasmarketplace.com/

We've been GFCF for 4 years with 5 of our children!  We don't avoid soy like the plague and do use some products in which soy is in minimally, but do not feel it has any value for our health so we don't drink soy based products such as soy milk.

My kids do not eat soy. Their IgG results came back high for soy (in addition to casein, gluten, and some other foods).   Plus soy protein is very similar to casein.

I think our earlier attempts at GFCF were not successful because the replacement for dairy ended up being a lot of soy products.

Another thing to watch for is eating too much sugar. Some of the GFCF cookies for example are loaded with sugar.

I like the GFCF in 10 weeks plan from TACA. We used it too.

Read labels!   You are going to spend a lot of time reading labels at first, but then you will get used to it.

Good luck!

We don't do soy for a few reasons.

1) We have boys and there is some growing concern about long term use of soy in children.

2) I have read that many times our kiddos have issues with soy if they have issues with casein.

3) My youngest is allergic to soy.

We do Tinkyada noodles with spaghetti sauce and diced peperoni on pizza days for our GFCF kiddos. Thanks for all the tips.

Anyone know of a good gfcfsf pizza I can buy? I found a bunch of recipes but my son needs a pizza for Friday lunch when all the other kids have regular pizza.

I have found 2 kinds of gfcf frozen pizza's at whole food in NJ but no gfcfsf frozen pizza.

Also what's the best option for bread? Home-made or online?

Thanks for ur post as ive been intimiated by the gfcf diet. saw the taca website, getting ready for this.

thanks again

No problem. I am glad you are starting.

Week 1 is over and it has been easier than I thought. Whole Foods
selection of products makes things easier. One issue was a good Soy-
Free cheese. All the good GFCF pizza's (Amy's) used Soy cheese. My son
loved that pizza but I am trying to not give him soy,

Luckily, I found a cheese called Daiya at whole foods. It comes in
Cheddar and Italian blend. I am going to try that as his cheese. I tried the
cheddar on quesadillas and it was pretty good.

Can anyone recommend a good pizza crust?
Also what bread maker should I get?
