Corporal punishment in school

Twenty-two states actually allow corporal punishment in the year 2010!  Makes me glad I live in Norway.

Read more here, including how to protect your child by submitting an exemption letter (the link includes a sample letter).

That's surprising. I am sure most of them are simply laws that no one has thought to change. I doubt many school districts actually practice it. Although I went to catholic school for 2 years and they did use it there: luckily, I never needed it.  If the law permits it, then there are going to be schools within the state
that are practicing it. I live in one of the bigger states where the law still
permits corporal punishment. It's not the punishment du jour, but its
still used (yet another reason to keep my kiddos out of the school
system here... those reasons just stack up).Very surprising though I got to ask so  schools can ' beat' I am not talkign about abuse but parents cant. Heck  they claim tis used in PA but half of my teachers cant control the classroom.   hmmmmm
