wacky titres..what to do?Hi, Just looking for some input on this..DS (3 y/o) pediatrician ran some titres a few months back, and these were the results: Rubeola > 100 (>19 immune) HIGH Mumps .73 (>1.09 immune) LOW Rubella >500 (>9.9 immune) HIGH Varicella 447 (>165 immune) HIGH They said having higher numbers is a good thing, that it shows he has a lot of immunity (???), but that he would need a mumps booster. He had the MMR in one dose at 18 months, so why would the numbers be SO discrepant? Then I showed these results to a DAN dr who said he could have an active measles infection!!! (I never went back there again..) Can anyone help me interpret this? Is it common for ASD kids to have high titres? What can be done? I've heard about Valtrex, but what is the typical course of treatment? Is it safe? Thanks again.. When kids have numbers like that (inconsisently high and low) it typically indicates a problem with the immune system (alot of our kids have issues with their immune systems anyway). I do believe it's possible to have an active measles virus in the body without displaying actual measles on the skin, but if he did have an active virus his IGM levels would have been high. Did they test those? My sons numbers looked somewhat like that, and we also tested all of the HHV viruses. We did eleven months of Valtrex/MB12 protocol with him and it was safe and extremely effective. It was one of the first major biomed interventions we did. We dosed 250mg 3x a day of Valtrex and MB12 injections every three days in addition to natural antivirals and an rx antifungal (it's very necessary to have the antifungal on board while on valtrex- it kicks up yeast badly). Unfortunately there is no single mumps booster available right now. Which means your ped will want you to give the whole MMR all over again. Considering that your sons titers for Rubeola and Rubella are already so high, if I were in your shoes I would decline the MMR all over again but you have to do what you feel is right for your son. Good Luck! thank you Julie, that is so helpful..do you mind if I ask what gains did your son make after the Valtrex? when did you start to see improvements? |
