Medical marijuana to treat autism

LL commented on my WINESFORAUTISM post:

"I had heard a little about the medical marijuana used to treat autism. I
think it was on one of the morning shows. Did anyone catch it?"

Since this is off topic I am starting a new thread.

It would be great if anyone who has experience could post comments.

Stax....I am not against this treatment at all.  I don't imagine it will be something I will currently use for my two guys....bit one never knows.

I recently discussed this with a medical professional who happens to be my friend.  He was stunned that I was open to this at all.  I was stunned that he wasn't.  As I graciously pointed out to him....his peers have no problem providing our 4-5 year old children with anti psychotics, anti depressents and a host of other wonderful meds without an iota of evidence of the potential harm they are doing.  Nor are they sure that they are at all beneficial.  Yet say the word "pot" and 90% of the medical community head for the hills.  Perhaps if some sharp dressed man showed up in the docs office and provided some monetary compensation for prescribing this...it would not seem so questionable.  Docs offices are filled with such reps every day, as you know.

Are there benefits to pot?  Cancer patients seem to think so.  Would it be beneficial to people on the spectrum?  Perhaps.  I would love to hear some truly scientific evidence discussing the pros and cons.  But, alas, pot remains illegal and therefore "dangerous".
