Antibody Titers

So are the titers tests just to test for boosters?  My DD stopped getting her shots at 6 months.  Is it worth while to get her a titer test?  Can a child be born with the antibodies, or are they just checking to see if the previous shots were good enough to not get more??

I'm so confused.  I want to start getting her caught up on a couple shots but am terrified.  I really dont want her to get any if there's a way to find out she doesn't really need them in the first place.

We have BCBS and it covered it.  Your sons developmental pediatrician would probably order it for you if your regular ped is being an ass (because he more than likely DOES know what it is).  I don't think, however, that titers for the dtap can be tested.  Just for the mmr and varicella, and while they're doing it you might as well run for ALL of the HHV's.  1,3,4,6 and mmr (and even HHV7 if your doc wants to).  If he comes up high on any of those he would be a good candidate for antiviral treatments (my son did wonderfully on Valtrex).

Was told this type of test does not exist by my son's pediatrician.  I know that it does from parents on this board.  I want my son to have this done before he has his DTaP and MMR vaccination boosters that he was supposed to receive last week.

Who can request this test? Can my sons developmental pediatrician? Does Insurance cover the cost for the test? If not, about how much does it cost?
