http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/92ZPC6J
My brother is six years old. He has autism. My family and I are doing some research on ways to improve the symptoms of autism. We heard about the Gluten Free, Casein Free Diet and wanted to gather some information on it before we try it. I'm doing a survey as part of my research for the GCFC diet. The purpose of the survey is to see what effect a GCFC diet has on the behavior and symptoms of children with autism. Please take a minute to complete the survey. Thanks in advance. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/92ZPC6J
Thank you for posting your reply. I didn't think about people of other ages. I improved the survey and made it functional for any age group. For your two children I would suggest that you take the survey twice. Again thank you for your reply and helping me improve my survey.
I looked at the survey but both my children are on the diet not one. Also the are ages 8 and 9 not 5 years annd under. The 9 year old has been on a complete gfcf diet for 5 years now. Beroe that just dairy(casein free) for another 1 year. My daughter has been on the diet for the same amount of time, They both have a diagnosis of autism. Within weeks of being dairy free hypoeractivity reduced and the children were able to concentrate on a task for 10 minutes ore. Before then they had an attention span of 1- 2 minutes. My son does not hand flap on a gfcf diet but hand flapping returns if he eats those foods or if he is under severe stress. MY daughters life long darhoea stopped after 1 week of being completely gluten and dairy free. Again it returns when eating those foods. Hyperactivity is greatly increased to the point of bouncing off walls and uncontrollabel shouting and word repitition and self harm(hitting self) when on the wrong foods. I don't think it has made a difference to their language. This would be impossible to asssess as they were also recieving speech therapy at the time. If you go over old posts here in the diet section you will probably find lots of info on how this has worked for some children. I don't think it is a case of it has worked for others so it will work for your little brother. I have seen this work for some and not others it is not a magic solution and can be very difficult to do and very expensive unless your brother is not a picky eater and will eat regular meals of fruit vegies meat etc. |
