How annoying!!!My son brought some x-mas crafts home he made in school as presents for parents. Only they looked nothing like his drawings. He has severe dysgraphia and draws at about a four year old level. I asked him and he said "My drawings were not good enough so the teacher drew one for me" If the school was not already out for the year I'd go over there and strangle her. Why would I want something she drew? My son's drawings will always be beautiful to me. Way to find special little ways of letting him know/encourgae him in thinking that he does not measure up. Clearly I will follow up.What an idiotic thing for a teacher to do!
Oh, I so hope you follow up. This was the wrong thing even for NT children. You NEVER do a child's craft. If a child puts one mark on a piece of paper, that's better for the child (and more special to the parents) than a perfect craft made by a teacher. She also had the option to come up with an alternative
project for him that he could have done successfully and
independently.
So many things she could have done, and she chose to take
the easy way out.
i don't blame you for wanting to strangle her.what a horrible thing to do! i work in a preschool with NT 3 year olds and we let them do what they want. a scribbled up snowman with 7 eyes and no mouth is way more special then a perfect teacher project. i am 16 years old and still draw like a 1st grader (heck, half the 3 year olds i work with write neater than me ) and my mom still would love to get a drawing i made, even if it looks horrible. you have to let kids be themselves. No kids yet but I can understand. The simple little scribbled doodle my little cousin brigns home from preschool or just draws cause she loves me mean more to me than anything. Though they get thrown away ( I cant keep em all) she knows I love them. |
