I need a ? for tomorrow’s school meeting.

Some information for you, (How to request a one on one aide) from wrightslaw.com

http://www.wrightslaw.com/info/relsvc.aide.steedman.htm

The school has hired an autism consultant to come to our meeting tomorrow.

This consultant was at our last meeting and viewed my child in a 2 hour structured span. (argh)

When I asked the consultant at the last meeting how do we set up goals when the teachers are not autism trained.  She shrugged her shoulders and said, it is up to the parents and the teachers.  She cannot help with that. (Then I got smart and figured out she was 'hired' by the school and being 'paid' by the school.)

So, tomorrow  we have part 2 of the meeting and I want to be as direct with this consultant as possible to try and receive an aide for my child.

What 3 questions should I have her answer as to why a child would need an aide during the school hours.  (My chid was involved in an unsupervised scuffle a few weeks ago, my child cannot dress/undress his/herself, my child is sensitive to loud sounds, my child hugs stragers, my child is unable to eat many foods in the cafeteria.

Thanks you for any guidance.  The meeting is 8 hours away and I really just want her to admit that children can learn best with a trained autism specialist on the team.

What a waste of a meeting.

The "autism consultant" who was hired privately by the school announced in the meeting that no one in Sweden has an aide for HFA.

So incredibly ridiculous.  I can say with confidence, they are truly behing the times in Sweden...
