How much edu regression is typical?

That's a significant regression.  I've never had a student regress that much.  Are they using the same assessment to measure his reading level?   I too wonder if a different assessment is being used.

Another question I have is have you seen actual regression in his skills, or is it only the assessment that's showing this? Is it possible that his previous teacher was overstretching his progress to ensure that she had her own tail covered?

Just some thoughts...

I just got  1st quarter progress reports and my ds  now measures a solid year behind in reading from where he measured at the end of last school year -this now has him two years behind his peers. I know some regression is 'normal' - but to have a year regressed after the first quarter has me alarmed. He did get ESY and his reading services have not changed (his teacher has) and he did make progress with the services last year. I have a few question about how his reading goal is implemented anyway so we will have a meeting.I have been asking several times which curriculum is being used and I swear I get a different answer every time. What do you think -should I be alarmed?
