| Don’t Know Where To Start!!
My son is 12 years old, with PDD, ADHD/ADD, Bi Polar, Encopresis. He is currently in a treatment facility for his behaviors. He has been there a year and half. He is supposed to be coming home within the next month. I am so excited, yet I am so stressed. I have to get him into school, I wanted to have as much of this done before he came home but I can't do anything until he comes home I am told. Before he left for the hospital he was kicked out of school, got a real bad reputation. I am a single mother who cooks at a homeless shelter. I have no support due to domestic situations my family can not help take care of my son and he is too old to go to daycare and not able to stay by himself. Everyone I have talked to say they are afraid to watch him for fear of being hurt. What am I to do about work? I have to work to be able to feed and clothe him. Does anyone have any ideas? Any links to services that could help??? I am in the Beckley West Virginia area. I have been looking for services, support groups, anything that would help us at all. I have ran into dead ends. West Virginia seems to be awful with services when it comes to PDD and Autism.... Welcome to the group! You will find lots of support here. I'm not from West Virginia, but I looked up some resources to get you started. I would ask these groups for recommendations for behavior analysts (to help address the challenging behaviors you mentioned) and for respite care providers.
