I might have an NT child

I took my youngest to the pediatrician the other day. It's all part of this series of visits to keep an eye on Emily Rose's development.

Well, in his eyes, there's nothing wrong with her. And he's right. She's really rolling along. She has imitative play, she points, she reacts, says bye-bye, has eye contact, language is within range-- all that good stuff.

I'm getting her re-tested in the new year to make sure but....

I think I might have a "normal kid".

This feels me with a little trepidation.

Sounds crazy, eh?

What it's like raising "normal" kids?  It's just so different. Not that I'd want her to be autistic. But I don't know what to expect anymore. Sounds crazy. But that's how I feel.

That is so great.  I love the fact that I have two NT kids becuase it sort of puts me at ease that maybe (hopefully, please God) they will always protect their brother and they will always be his friends no matter what.  I love them all so much but I just can not help but worry the most about my ds with asd.      That's great to hear. We just got Matt's eval results back and while there is one area to keep an eye on, he is nowhere close to meeting the criteria.

Sorry, just came back after  a while.  It will be different, but a good different. And as they get older you will do more "normal" teenage type things. My middle son goes with friends lots of places.  Goes skating, sledding, and movies with friends, cell phone glued to his hand etc.  Adam barely leaves the house.  It is like having my very first 12 year old.
