3yr re-evals?Back in April last year I consented to having the school preform re-evals on my son. Well, needless to say they have JUST now got to the point to testing him this month. I decided to back out of them testing him and have given them notice the we withdrawl our testing consent. The reason why we have deiced to do this is that we are having numerous issues with the school dist. and even more so the school. At our last progress meeting we discussed his progress reports and report card , they had listed on numerous goals that he had only made limited progress we know from doing work with at home he is doing GREAT in areas they say he isn't. When we brought this up at the meeting and even offered to show them different worksheet/skills he knows, they totally didn't want to hear about. Bottom line... we can't trust them to come up with a "fair" asessment of our son.We feel they will have the reults come out the way they feel would benefit them and their budget. They know we are pushing for mainstreaming and he will need a aide. I know we could get a IEE if we don't agree with results but we don't want these results in his school file and it would be so close to the end of the year before we ever got around to having the IEE asessment done. My question is... -He had his last evals in 3/2007? we are moving out of the state after this year and would like the new school dist. he will go to next year to do the 3yr reevals. Can we get away with that or do all 3yr reevals need to be done by 3/2007 while he is in this current school? Are reevals mandatory? As of now they haven't said anything to us just stated that we have to sign a form that we withdrew consent. They are probably thrilled because without these tests they can not change his IEP in anyway..as they have stated.. I am just trying to make it thru this year at this point since we are moving and I don't want to take a chance of them preforming a inaccurate eval that will follow him to his new school. This school district has been a nightmare!!! this is our 2nd year here. What are your thoughts... am I doing the right thing? |
