Minor (?) but annoying: wwydI have had problems wwith getting teachers to communicate in the past so I thought I'll be proactive and had communication from regular ed teacher 2X month and communication from recource room teacher 2X week put into my son's IEP. I had not heard from regular ed teacher after 6 weeks and after unsuccesfully trying to get in touch with her I called an IEPP meeting to discuss communication and now I hear every two weeks from her. Now the resource room teacher has not written any note in two weeks. For the month before I would sent 'prompts' to get info but I stopped that and now I don't hear. Since it is in the IEP I don't think keeping this up should be up to me and sending a note twice a week to remind her to fill me in seems weired too. So what would you do: Give up? Keep sending prompts? Call another IEP (and ignore the eye-rolls)?
I'd provide clear list of questions you have about specific issues/goals your son has. I think it's fine to follow up until you get an answer especially since the interval has been established. They may know what's going on but you're in the dark. I'd try to do it friendly eventhough it drives you nuts. Even going into to the school if I had too. Maybe scheduling a time to meet monthly or bi-weekly for 10-15 minutes or so would work better? |
