HI new here :kwik question

In my book, Facing Autism, it says about Folic Acid:  French researcher Jerome Lejeune found that giving autistic children 250 mcg of folic acid per pound of body weight brought considerable improvements...has the franchise for distributing single carbon units needed for synthesis and repair of nucleic acids, which are the building blocks of RNA and DNA...it also aids in treating depression and anxiety...it is most effective when taken with vitamins B12 and C.

Don't know about the other.

DS means darling son.

Use folinic acid, not just folate or folic acid.  This is what the body needs, and it may not be able to convert the other substances to folinic on its own.  Start off with a lower dose like 200 mcg or so and work up to a max of about 1600 mcg per day.  I suggest using folinic when you are also giving DMG or TMG.  DMG is usually the best to start with.  Buy the foil wrapped 125 mg tabs (can be chewed or crushed or placed under tongue, taste fine) Start with one tab, and increase weekly to about 4 tabs per day given all in the am.  I increase the folinic as I increase the DMG.  (weekly).  The folinic often helps to settle any hyperactivity that might worsen on the DMG.  This however is a small problem compared to the gains you may see with the DMG.  We got lots of increased eye contact when we first started this 3 years ago and also lots more attempts at language!!

Re the multivit, something like Kirkmans liquid SuperNuThera is good as it contains most all you need and some extra B6 in it with magnesium.

The DAN protocol gives you ideas re how much of each nutrient to give.  You can also get this info from a great book called "Children with starving brains" by Dr. McCandless (treats kids with autism and has a granddaughter with autism)

I think the Autism Research Institute has a bunch of articles on the benefits of folic acid.  Not sure what their website is, but I'm sure you could google it and request the information.

You should be able to find the answers on thier web site.
