Hey Folks! Your Ages Pls!Very interesting ladies, thanks.
I was 31. Harriet I was 31, but I turned 32 the next day (6 hrs and 28 minutes later, to be exact!).i was 26 when my son was born I was 36 when I had my son - he was an ooops!! baby : ) I had both my NT girls before 30. My husband and I were both 26 when J was conceived, and 27 when he was born.I was 32 when my son on the spectrum was born. Thanks everyone!!
I was 35. Concernedpa. I was 37 when I was blessed with my miracle girl I had just turned 35 when DS was born..I was 22 with the first and 25 with the second. My wife was 40 when he was born, I was almost 43. This is the first child for either one of us to be a parent of. We were both young when our DS was born, 23 but I did have severe GD with him however it is also genetically linked on my side.Wow this forum really took off DH was also 25 The age of the father is strongly associated with autism, see http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09 /04/AR2006090400513.html for example. The reason is actually fairly well understood, even if inconsistent. Human genes repair themselves fairly well when people are young, but not so well as we get older. 30 with NT first, 33 with ASD son.I was 33 and dh was 35I was 30 when I had Liam and 34 when I had Emma who is NT.My wife was 27 I Was 41 and my husband was 50 when my daughter was born. She was a beautiful surprize!! I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and wondered if this could have had any affect. There are actually some studies linking ASD to Gestational Diabetes. From what I remember, there is a pretty clear number demonstrating that women with GD have a higher % of having an ASD child. I also had GD, so I have followed it. Of course, whether it could be related to the ultrasounds, high/low blood sugars, high/low birth weight, they have no idea. I know that I only gained 14 lbs with J, and that always disturbed me. He was perfectly healthy, but ketones always bothered me. I was 24. i was 35 when my youngest dx pdd-nos was born There are studies indicating age of the parent (mother and/or father) may be related to incidence of autism. One that comes immediately to mind is: Maternal and Paternal Age and Risk of Autism Spectrum DisordersCroen LA, Najjar DV, Fireman B, Grether JK With ours, age of parent would not have had any impact as the ASD diagnosis for our children is a factor of an inheritable genetic issue (microduplication of 15q). my birth mom was 30 when she had meHello Everyone, Just wondering, Ladies How old were you when you gave birth? Me..25 I've been pondering this as i noticed that there is a handful of younger women vs older ones when i pick up DD @ his school. Can age contribute to autism? Don't be shy.... My wife is not a member, but she was 35 when my son was born.I was 40 when NT dd was born and 42 when ds on the spectrum was born. No gestational diabetes or any other problems during pregnancy.I was 34 when my aspie son was born and DH was 36. I was 35 when dd was born and 37 when ds was born.

Mommy to 6 year old with classic autism I was 30 with my first and my DH was 36, with our second, I was 37 and my DH was 42....my husband has aspie characteristics and sensory overload...ADHD, depression and OCD runs on my side and MS on my DH's side....I was 32 and dh was 34. I may have had undiagnosed gestational diabetes with him. He was born with low blood sugar which resolved within 24 hours and he was over 10 pounds. However, I for sure had GD with my dd three years later as it was diagnosed - they changed the cut-offs in between my pregnancies. She weighed even more than ds, but I was aware of my GD and controlled it. Although I think I had it worse with her - I didn't have episodes of being terribly sleepy or dizzy with ds' pregnancy. There is a very wide age range of parents here - which I don't think proves anything. There may be some association but there are also tons of people who are having kids later in life and don't have a child with autism. My dd is NT and she was born when I was 35 and my dh was 37. She has some quirks, but is doing fantastic in kindergarten - playing well with other kids, has many friends, etc. We went to a Halloween festival a few weeks ago and she had several girls run up to her to get her to come play. I about started crying - for multiple reasons. The good news? Ds had a couple of boys run up to him too and want him to go with them. Anyway, I think if you do a poll like this - you will get answers all across the spectrum... I was 36 when the boys were born, 38 when my very NT daughter was born. I have read a theory that age can have an effect, but not so much the woman's as the man's. A man over 35 will be at higher risk of producing a child on the spectrum, something to do with the sperm. Its probably on line somewhere. I don't know that that is the case in our case. I think it is the maturity, and I also believe if they hadn't been premature we wouldn't be traveling this road. I was 23yo and had the best pregnancy followed by a fairly normal birth. My son developed normally and was by all intents and purposes "NT" until 2.5. Then BAM! Someone flipped a switch. Best I can describe it. It's about to be my birthday! I'll be 27. I was 24 when Connor was born and 25 when Jason was born. Jason may or may not be NT. He is 18 months and only says 5 words though, only 1 frequently. But he makes eye contact and often plays functionally. Connor is diagnosed with Autistic Disorder. I don't know if the parents' age would be a cause or an effect. If ASD were genetic then the parents are likely to have some symptoms and might [have to] wait until later in life to have successful relationships and then children. It might be better to look at large families and see if the later kids had a higher incidence of ASD than the first born kids. I was 28 and my husband turned 31 the day after our first son was born. I didn't have GD, but did develop preeclampsia at 39 weeks, resulting in an immediate C-section. Anyone else with preeclampsia? Tiffany I agree I also read that if you have allergies during ur pregnancy ur baby will have a higher chance of being autistic! This happened to me, as i NEVER had suffered from allergies until i was about 4-5 mths preg and got a bad case that felt like the flu.
Anyone else with preeclampsia?
Me! I had preeclampsia with Katelyn and it started very early on (like maybe 18 weeks or so, very high BP and modified bed rest). I was 29 when I had her and DH was 31. I was induced with her at 37.5 weeks because it was getting really bad. It took 3 days of being induced to deliver her! |
