Resources for care giversI'm in upstate NY (way upstate to what your thinking ). We have ditched ARC and gone self directed. We have a plan paid for by the state and we hire, fire and schedule our own staff. I love it. I'm almost done with the classes to write the plans for other people. Good luckWhat about Sitter City? http://www.sittercity.com/ Hello, I work with children with autism and mental retardation as a direct care worker (in group homes, etc) for many years. I love to be with those children and help them to improve. However it's very difficult to do working for Social Services System. I'd like to help a child in more favorable environment. Maybe you could give me an advice on where I could find parents who are looking for a caregiver who is experienced, creative, open minded and focused on a child's abilities rather than disabilities. I cannot find any websites (besides Craiglist) on the internet where parents look for care for their special kids. I live in NYC Thanks, Dina Would love to find resources too. I am an ABA trained Special Education teacher in Sugar Land Texas. I have had a hard time finding families too. Every time I see a family that is looking they seem to be a hour away. |
