EEG Biofeedback

Anyone ever try this before? Not for the little ones though because of restlessness and distractibility.I have not heard of this before but would love to hear about it...maybe someone will post their knowledge/experience. I have heard of this and have become interested in it as well.  It has also led me to another treatment called Byonetics (http://www.2-b-well.org/_autism.html).  This treatment does sound pretty 'out there', but then again I just read an article on CNN.com about how NTT Corp. just invented this device that allows someone to remote control another persons body (http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/10/25/human.remote.control.ap/).  To the best of my knowledge the Byonetics costs $300 up front and then $25/month for as long as the program is continued.  I keep waffling on whether I should risk flushing $300 down the toilet. We heard a lecture about the great results of neuro feedback to treat ADHD. Our son has trouble focussing his attention to schoolwork. The neuro feedback really helps as is proven again and again for Attention Deficit Disorder. Earlier this week we had the clinic that provides these neuro feedback services do a brain map for us. This clinic does not do neuro feedback unless the bio medical part of autism is taken care of as well. We are so excited to finally be able to have all these stool, urine and blood tests done in one fell swoop. The brain map is measuring the frequency of the brainwaves in all different ares of the brain. With neuro feedback one can target a change in the frequency of the brain waves; mostly going for beta waves where one is higly alert. The idea is to do 3 neuro feedback sessions a week with measurable changes expected within 15 to 20 sessions. To us is will be worth trying as optimum results will be reached with about 40 sessions. Changes in brain wave frequency are permanent with occasional booster sessions of neuro feedback when necessary.I heard it works well.

All you need to do is send the founder, Jean Genet, an email and give some background information on the child.  He will most likely want to arrange a phone call to talk with you personally.  His email address is jgenet@byonetics.org

I wish you all the best!

How do you order this? I want to try this since the 2 other cd programs were proven sucess with Daniel.

OK I know I am new here, but I'd like to borrow some byonetics. It does sound out there, but that doesn't mean it wont work.

Hi Everyone,

I forgot I made a posting about Byonetics until I got an email today from the forum.  I thought I should update everyone.  I took the leap of faith to try the program December 2005 for my 3.5 year old.  So we are 6.5 months into the program and I've been nothing but pleased.  Since starting the program my son has greatly improved spontaneous language, eye contact, and receptive language.  I also started my older son (5 years old) on the program 3 months ago.  He has some autistic tendencies such as literal thinking, trouble with Wh- questions, sequencing, and fixating on an idea.  He has shown great improvement too.  His accuracy of answering Wh- questions went from 40% to 60% and his sequencing of 3 frame pictures went from 0% to 100%.  Both of them still have issues, but it's as if now they are learning with the light turned on instead of trying to learn in complete darkness.

Linda

Hmmm.  Sounds somewhat interesting.   He said Daniel can qualify cost around 300.
