Advice on MMR

Personally I'm pro vaccine- HOWEVER- I would hold off any shots if my kid was sick. I mean if she finds out it is allergies, I personally would not worry.  But for all my kids if they were sick we just pushed back the vaccine- our pedi never had a problem doing this. If it were me personally- I would be more concerned about the fact the doc thinks there is nothing wrong with constant congestion, I would go for a second opinion. There are so many things that could cause that- some of them immune related so before I would get ANY more vaccines (not just the MMR) I would want that checked out. JMHO.

That's what I was going to suggest - the longer she waits, the more time his immune system has to mature.

Not sure what your question is exactly, but what does she think? If she's looking for alternate information, tell her about delaying and breaking it up (if her doctor offers that. Sometimes those are hard to find in the MMR vaccine.). If she's not seeking alternate information, I would suggest just talking to her about making sure he's not sick when he gets any vaccine he ever gets. Even pro-vaccine people usually suggest this. When a kid can't fight things off as well, you don't want to hurt their immune system, even slightly, with a vaccine. If she's not seeking any information, tread lightly. I don't volunteer that type of stuff to my friends unless they ask.

My 19 month old grandson has not been given the MMR yet.  After his PDD-NOS diagnosis pediatrician agreed to delay the vaccine.  My grandson also suffers from a continuous runny nose, which we believe is allergy related, since he has severe allergies and eczema.  Since this vaccine is only necessary before they start school, I don't see the harm in delaying it for a short while.

Unfortunately, there is no way, at this time, to obtain the MMR vaccine in single doses.  I called Merck, who is the worldwide distributor of the single dose vaccines, and they are not making them any more, but may do so in the future.

She is asking for alternative info about breaking up the shots, I just want to give her other's BTDT advice since I did not break up the shots, but did delay them.  The dairy intolerance and constant sickness worry me and she is open to hearing info on this as well.

I DO NOT want to start a debate here, but I am worried for my friend's son and have to ask this question.  No disrespect intended, but I really would like to only hear specific advice about breaking up the MMR shot, and no ProVaccine stuff please.

My friend has a 15 month old boy, no signs whatsoever of being on the spectrum, except he seems to be lactose intolerant recently.  The only dairy he will ingest is milk so they are having a hard time determining if anything else aggravates his body.  IMO she should not vaccinate him at this time (he is current on all previous vaccines) and hold of the MMR until he is 2 and then break the shot up into 3 different visits.  This is just my semi-informed view and I would like to hear what other people have done along these lines so I can pass along the info to her.  Also, he has been sick with colds almost his entire life and you can hear him take every single breath, like he is ALWAYS congested--pedi tells her this is okay???
