I have read case studies in which DMPS given through injections can cause death to autistic children. Why is this? Because children's bodies are fragile and thus, can't normally handle all the mercury that is released from deep inside their organs. Remember: mercury is a highly toxic substance that must be removed slowly from the body so it won't cause no harm. George Is DMPS given through injections? So you wouldn't mind linking those case studies here? I've never heard of anyone administering DMPS through an injection...I would love to read these studies.I thought EDTA and DMPS are given via IV & supps and DMSA are given oral and supps? I think that chelation can be dangerous if you are using someone e/ no or little experience. We have been chelating my 2 kids for the past 3 years safely. Informative link: http://www.dmpsbackfire.com/dmsa/default.shtml This is not something I would try on a child, sorry, it's just much too risky. I'm not sure why the link didn't post. I'll try again. Sorry. http://www.dmpsbackfire.com/dmsa/default.shtml Grammy, I'm sorry but the site you linked is put up by someone who is not a doctor or a scientist or even an academic. I trust my doctor, who has practically recovered my child, over a random stranger on the internet spouting their own personal opinions and posting stories from people they've probably never met. I'm sorry Julie, it was just my personal feeling about chelation. If this treatment has worked for your child, I think that's wonderful.Grammy I'm sorry if I came off as rude. I truly believe the efficacy of chelation therapy is solely dependent upon the competency of the physician directing the treatment protocal and their knowledge of chelation and the steps that must be taken before chelating a person. The site you referenced is mostly made up of stories of people who have been chelated for heavy metal toxicity caused by mercury amalgams. There are many Dr.'s out there who have tried to jump on that bandwagon to chelate adults for this. The problem is that if you try to chelate an adult when they still have the amalagams in their mouth it can possibly be very damaging to them...hence all the complaints on that site. There have also been horror stories of several children who have been chelated by IV and the result was not good. This is what people think of when they think of IV chelation and autistic children and immediately think "dangerous". The fact of the matter is that in those instances, those children were chelated with the wrong medicine and it was a case of "human error". For instance, someone grabbed the wrong medicine off the shelf, or I believe in one instance the Dr. was simply not knowledgeable enough. This happens in mainstream medicine all the time. We see it on the news weekly, if not daily the examples of Dr.'s leaving scalpels and scissors in people during surgery and closing them up, amputating the wrong limbs, etc. It's as important when picking a Dr. for my child to treat the medical aspect of his autism to make sure he knows what he's doing as it would be if he were dx'd with leukemia and I had to choose an oncologist. I would not just walk in off the road to any Tom, Dick, or Harry's office and allow them to perform radiation and chemotherapy on my child without investigating their credentials and checking out their reputation. Chelation, in my mind, is along the same lines as chemo- chemicals are being put into my childs body to accomplish a goal. In the case of chemo for cancer, those chemicals kill the cancer and most everything else too. In the case of chelation, the chemicals bind to the metals (and to some minerals) and pull them out of the body. In both instances, the chemicals do something good, and something bad also. With the chelation, you put the minerals back in immediately and continue to do so with supplements and do regular testing of your childs vitamin and mineral levels if you have a physician who knows what he's doing. IN either instance, I'm going to make sure the Dr. I deal with is an expert in his field and has an excellent track record. Our Dr. does, and we are seeing the results. |
