Did you watch Larry King last night?

What did you think? I was at a friends house and had control of the remote while everyone was messin around and looked at it for a breife few seconds, I think it was Jim Carry that caught my eye and I wondered for a second what it was. I had to change it tho unfortuntly everyone else wanted ESPN.

I caught the part where the lady... and I forget her name, said that ASD is preventable and treatable?

Is ASD preventable? I never read that anywhere. I thought they did a good job of making their points in the first half, but the so-called debate was useless.  It's not a debate if you're just throwing opinions at each other without any possibility of a real discussion.Jenny McCarthy believes that autism is 100% environmental and there is no genetic component at all. So, by her standards, if it's environmental and your remove the cause, it will go away.

Exactly how I felt. There was no time to debate anything! They kept going to commercial. Sigh.

Trinity, I guess in her case that is true. Her son is recovered from autism. Didn't take long, either. I been working at it for three years--she has come far but is not there yet.

Woodsman, they wrote a book. I bet it will be available in the library soon. I want to know how to prevent, too.

They never quite answered the question regarding the increase of autism ....is it increasing or are we just better at diagnosing ? ....

I was a SPED teacher almost 20 years ago and our county ( huge county) had only one class for kids with autism....I taught students in the moderate range of MR ....i know that if these kids were evaluated today several would have the autistic label instead.

I saw it- I believe it was on a while back and this may have been a repeat- Jenny M. drives me NUTS!!!! I think it is great that a celebrity is such a huge autism spokesperson but geez- her son is barely older than mine- I have a hard time believing he is "cured". He could be- or has improved so much that he now passes for NT- but cured I highly doubt.

I am one who believes that it can be a combination of environmental as well as genetics- but I believe MY son is autsitic due to genes- he was born this way I am convinced.
