My son is a HUGE bread lover, so the switch to GFCF diet has hurt him in this area b/c we cannot seem to find soft bread. All of the GF bread seems to be very chewy. I've tried the shelf brand and the frozen...tried toasting...it's just too chewy for him. He also has sensory issues with food aversions, so he won't eat the bread I've tried offering him. I tried my hand at baking the bread using the Bob's Red Mill mix, but let's just say it didn't turn out well I did some online research for "good" I hope you get some good responses to this post, my girls are soooo picky and refuse most foods. We use the Kinnikinick bread. Throw it in the toaster for a minute or so, not long enough to "toast" it, but just enough to soften. My kids are getting more used to it.
Good luck, it's not easy! I used a bread machine for GFCF bread. Tapoica and rice flour make the best white bread. It is chewy. No getting around that, but I thought it tasted ok. We use Bob's Red Mill mix but for us it only turns out in the bread machine. |
