waive re-evaluation?

I would not waive it. It's important to have frequent norm-based testing to ensure that your child is making progress. present levels are the basis for goals they need a good "Snapshot" of where he is in time to determine goals....I just moved to NY from PA where we wasted sooo much time fighting with the IU.  Don't let them winNo good reasons that I could think of. I would insist on the re-eval. A fresh
look is always helpful. I am suspicious of why they would not want to do it.
Strange...

My son is 4.5, has ASD, and we are preparing for his transition to the School District.  He currently is in an ABA program through our Intermediate Unit which handles services for 3-5 year olds.  I received a letter today saying that although the law requires a reevaluation of every child with a disability at least once every two years, they are recommending that he not be evaluated.  They indicate that "the team has sufficient information regarding [my son's] present levels of development in order to continue providing him with appropriate services.  He will be re-evaluated by the School District over the next few months.  This Re-Evaluation report will be reviewed by her current team and any new information will be considered."

I am leaning against waiving the re-evaluation, because I think a re-evaluation could provide helpful new info.  I know his ABA team has collected a lot of data, however, a fresh look is often helpful.  Are there any good reasons for waiving the re-evaluation?  Thank you.

Thanks, everyone.  I have declined to waive the evaluation and sent my response in writing.  Maybe the SD knows that I plan to take the 3rd year in the IU and therefore they don't plan to take this IEP that seriously?  In any case, I am very interested in the evaluation report and want to know what they will be recommending as a placement, since I will probably get to go through this all over again next year.
