Research schools in Mass for PDD kids

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic

Hi,

I am looking at moving my family from our town in Massachusetts because we need a larger residence.  How can I look up whether or not a town does a good job with PDD/special needs kids?  I am considering moving to New Hampshire because we have family up there.  They keeping telling us the schools up there are either the same or better than the public school my daughter is currently in.  I really like what my town has done for my daughter and would hate to go to a poorly funded or a lesser program.  She has made great strides since they started working with her 3 years ago.  Unfortunately economically we probably won't be able to stay in town because rents are more than we can afford.  Any help would be appreciated.

This link on our forum has links to ways of finding local autism services.  This can help you find out what would be available outside of school, and help you get in contact with the local autism society chapter or parent support group who could answer your questions on the local schools.

You can also check this website to see how parents rate the schools, but there might not be info on special ed for all schools.

Finally, check the Easter Seals site for how autism-friendly each state is:

Good luck with the decision.
