Not what I expected! My daughter is in the process of being diagnosed. We just received the psychology report back and she was diagnosed with conduct disorder and mood disorder NOS. We still have a genetic diagnosis appointment so we'll have to see what that doctor says. She still has signs of Aspergers. I was wondering if anyone had a child that had a mixture of ailments like conduct disorder and Asperger's? I would seek out a PSYCHIATRIST who specializes in autism. Many professionals who don't specialize in autism see all of autism's "trees" and not its "forest" Any time I see a laundry list of psychological disorders in a child, I think "autism has been unrecognized." Ask this psycologist to rule out an autism spectrum disorder. All children with Autism/Aspergers have issues in pragmatics. I'd ask for a pragmatic language test usually done by a Speech therapist. I'd also consider a Language assessment if you haven't had one even is you suspect aspergers. It can show underlying issues with retrieval, sequencing, comprehenion etc. Issues with these can look like behavior disorders.a Psychiatrist, or a Ped Dev Neurologist. The LAST THING you need is someone who treats developmental disorders as a psychological/environmental etc problem! |
