Hi everyone, It has been a week since I gave my son the omega 3. I was wondering if anyone had expierenced side effects with their child. I dont know if it is working yet. This week he had a terrible week at school. So I started to think was the omega 3 or he really just was having a terrible week at the same time I started it. I dont think it is the omega 3 since he gets such a small amount.
Thanks for any advice,
Sharmyn Hi. We just started it this week, also. We're seeing increased stimming at home and some behavioral issues at school, but yesterday Hunter played the best game of soccer in his life. He ususally has what I call his "two-second delay" with getting what's going on in the game, and this week at soccer I didn't see it at all. I wish there was a more definitive way to measure the effectiveness of the supplements, but little things like that can tell a lot. I've also started him on other supplements that caused behavioral side effects in the beginning, but I understand that it's his body adjusting to them, and they have decreased the longer he's been on the specific supplement. He had incredible gains from B12 shots, but his behavior in the first month or so was terrible. I hope that helps a little! Ok, It's been a week today and he is getting worse. Today we were told that he is screaming in his classroom and hitting his teachers. I can't understand why but the only common event is the start of the supplements so as of now he will not be taking them any longer.I'm sorry your son is having such a hard time. Different kids often respond better or worse to different EPA to DHA ratios. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to find the one that works best for your child. My son did poorly on a product with high DHA and low EPA, but does very well on one with high EPA and low DHA. I would suggest taing your child off the suppliments for several weeks and seeing if his behavior improves while the suppliment clears his system. Then, if you want, you can try a different product. Good luck! |
