Does anyone know anything about the quality of Boise's schools re: autism services? Also, how are pediatric st/ot/pt resources, dev pediatricians, etc?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Hi Susan,

Here's a link that Norwaymom provided on another post:

http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19141&am p;am p;KW=find+an+expert

She also suggested finding the local chapter of ASA to find out which services, etc., are available there.

I found it under the "State/Local Resources" page. There may be other links I don't know about listed there.

Hope this helps some

Thanks for all the links, 42gether! Norwaymom is amazing, isn't she?

I was hoping someone here has been in Boise or knows someone who can give their personal experiences with the schools in particular. My DH is considering a job there, and while I will call the schools and talk to the special ed coordinator, it's good to have first-hand accounts as well.

I hope someone here will have first-hand knowledge to offer. You're right, of course, nothing can substitute for personal knowledge of a school and services.

Good luck!

Hi Susan,

I posted on this a while back as well.  My husband and I are planning to move there this summer.  I live in WA in a rural area with little therapy.  I know they have the Katy Beckett Waver and I believe it just got bumped from 22 to 19 hours a week.  I have wondered if I can get the paperwork started on these services even though we are not there yet ( I heard they take time).

Let me know if you get any good info!

4UDonnette, pm me your email address and I'll forward an email to you I got from the grandmother of a boy with autism. She gave me some pretty good info about the schools (which ones were good, etc.).
