Fish oils seem work!!!got a big bottle of fish oil tablets but it was given to her because she just gave birth a little over a month ago. I'm curious as how it is used for children because I am scared that my godson (my bestfriend's son) has something because it wasn't a healthy pregnancy =\Fish oil is essential in brain development, and it has great benefits for your heart as well--keeping your heart strong by helping your body maintain good cholesterol levels. I have to admit, it was a great benefit for my son, and I do believe it helped health and behavior. I always recommend it. We just started it about 2 weeks ago and we are giving about 2 tsp. now but based on weight I think I can go up to 3 tsp. (He weighs about 50 pounds). It has seemingly improved language, regulated his stools, and he seems alot more connected to people. He has started all of a sudden talking, saying sentences like I want swing without prompting- it has been very exciting! After a week on it his ABA terapist said "From last week to this week..........amazing"- that was all the proof I needed! I did nottell her or his school teacher about it andthey both have commented on how much he is talking. I would recommend it- we are not doing any other suppliments right now- but I think it is worth a try. I have been using Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil- orange flavored and I mix a little honey in it- he loves it :) For thank you people who recommended fish oils. Little M is taking 1 tsp a day since the weekend. He is more happier and less fussy about little things. I've found him use more language (he has a lot of words, but he doesn't know how to put them together). My hushand thinks that's my imagination. I know he doesn't eat meat, even he gets from Omega-3 from his yogurt, but I think that is not enough. I hope others also notice that change. On the other hand, there has no change fot big M, I'm giving him 2 tsp. He is a very big 8 year. I will take update, see what happens next. woo-hoo it works for little M. Maybe big M needs more than 2 spoons?/Marta Big M's language skills and soical skills (small group small setting) are much better than little M. And big M does care how people feels. not that little M is not care but his language skills affect his ability to understand our world and his social skills. Big M is about 78lbs, wow I think I have to give him 4 tsp. I have to watch his weight I think I stick with 2, because his paste also have flaxseed oil with omega-3. Little M still has problem with following directions, and running around during the ABA sessions, but I'm just happy that he uses more language. His hyperactive behaviors can be the resulted of adjusting the ABA program, he has just started about 3 months, and only 2 hours a week. Still, he is no longer crying over little things and less hittings. He hits when he is not happy, usually, his father and his big brother. Can you get fish oil in a capsule? My DD refuses to take any liquid medicine and is so sensitive to taste that I don't think I could disquise it in something.
Can you get fish oil in a capsule? MyDD refuses to take any liquid medicine and is so sensitive to taste that I don't think I could disquise it in something.
Yes. I'll ask the brand =DThere is a brand of "de-fished" cod liver oil out there. When my son was taking it, we squirted it in his mouth with nothing else added, and he followed that with a drink of water. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the oil. I think the taste was barely there and my son had no issues with taking it. He was 3 at the time. How exciting for all of you esp little M! My son was on fish oil and it was sooo gross! It is literally fish oil (i dont know what i thought it would be like when i first bought it but not literal stinky fish oil) it was berry flavored and i just added it into his juice and he drank it. The smell of the one we used was really fishy and he ended up catching on and stopped drinknig or eating anything i mixed it with. I didnt notice any changed behaviors but i suppose i should try a diff brand. Ive heard alot of good things abotu nordic naturals (which isnt the one we tried i forget the name) maybe ill try that one. I bought some Efalex fish oil to try for our 4 year old autistic boy, but I haven't been able to get any of it into him. Efalex is a liquid and has a very mild lemon taste. I've tried it in apple juice, fruit juice, and a yogurt drink that he really likes but as soon as he takes a sip he sets it down and doesn't touch it again. I think it's just the oily texture of it. I'd try capsules, but I just can't imagine him taking them as he refuses to take vitamin pills (I use liquid multivitamins in juice). Any and all advice on how to disguise any form of fish oil would be much appreciated. Thanks Doug dougie, mixing it in with cinnamon apple sauce was the only way I could get my son to ingest the fish oils. Good luck! |
